Character is Gone!

If you don't have a homestead, your character will stay online when you log out. You could easily have been killed that way.

Ahh i see thank you for responding, I'm a returning player and saw what has changed and what hasn't but yea that my bad on my part. I shall start over and remember to make a homestead before i log and maybe find a better area :3 thank you again for those who responded.

If your character dissapears you problably died xD
Maybe even if you get to the area you were with your main your skeleton might still be there.
If it is still there and you inherit from your past character you can bury his corpse and put flowers in the grave periodically for a boost in the proficiencies your last character had.
If it was an advanced character it might be worth doing it.
