Put your axe in your right hand (In your equipment menu)
Walk up to a wood pile, or a old log and right click.
You only need 1 type of axe, it's not needed to have multiple of them.

i went thru the tutorial 3 times, ive read it. it doesnt say which inspirationals increase which skills, until youve already wasted your material. the tutorial doesnt show you how to do basic things like equip an axe. you cant just equip it, you have to drag it over to your hand, and not only that, but put it in the LEFT hand. this game is backwards and explains nothing, sorry for asking a few questions.

To equip something more quickly than dragging, hold Shift and then click the tool. If you have an item in the hand from before shift+click it to remove it first then equip the other tool. If you have a toolbelt the tools placed inside it will be switched into your hand automatically as you need them.
