going mobile

Forum for suggesting changes to Salem.

going mobile

Postby ShogunLeCat » Mon Jun 29, 2015 6:24 pm

so i started playing this game yesterday. i played a good amount and am loving it so far. but i cant help but think this would be more suited as a mobile game, maybe cross platform. i think this game would kick ass if its on mobile.

mobiles are the future and this kind of game would be a perfect fit for it

I'm not sure what game you are playing but making it mobile would be a TERRIBLE thing.

There is also another thread like this that got shut down.

true it might need some changes. but the core gameplay should stay the same. but i think mobile would actually make this game more alive imo

Not farmville dude
someone else can steal the ideas and make it mobile tho. But it would be as boring as those other farm games out there which my girlfriend loves to play. So casual.

Simply no..

Sounds like it would be terrible as a mobile game, combat would suck, escaping from animals would suck, pickup small items would suck..

A lot of things would be frustrating to do.. organizing items.. holy **** im getting pissed just thinking about it.

Sounds like a cluttery garbage of a game, no thanks.

Why do I get a feeling that this suggestion as well as the pathfinding one and the insanity meter one are just people trying to enrage JC by asking for the things he'd expect the influx of new people to ask for ? xD

Why do so many people honestly think the mobile game market is ever going to appeal outside casual gaming? =_= Sure everyone can find some joy in casual gaming now and then, and casual gamers have become a sad majority so I'm not contesting it's going to be a major market. But no hardcore gamer is going to sit down and ruin their neck and cramp their fingers trying to play on a ridiculously small screen for hours. The PC gaming market is not going anywhere, jumping on that bandwagon is not a requirement for future success.

Besides, mobile games based on PC games are always dumbed down inferior versions. Take Minecraft as an example, is a good reason why you can't play mobile Minecraft with friends that play the computer version, it's impossible because the mobile version will always be inferior and behind the PC version. Salem is probably even more complex than Minecraft, so it is NOT possible to make a cross-platform compatible mobile version of Salem. And to make a stand-alone version of a MMO doesn't make sense unless it's talk about a major company with a major franchise. And in either case it would still require sufficient resources and manpower to work with both platforms which most indie developers don't have. So I'm really wondering what you where even thinking when you suggested this?
