is anything related insanity or madness? I cannot either find any buterfly to build potions to earn some inspiration points.
how can I check insanity and madness and what can I do to prevent them since I'm a newbie and I just have like 60 silvers and not more than that, I can kill some rabbits and sell it but it takes a bit

Pick flowers, all of them. And remember to sleep on a bed.
You thought I quit.

The darkness is just because the current season, cold snap, have day and night cycles - which is also the reason you aren't seeing Butterflies atm. If you have run out of inspiration you may want to take some time to fry food and glutton them to raise your stats. Making food over an open fire, such as a campfire, will also reduce insanity. Alternatively forage for flowers, milkweeds for example are good both as a travel snack and to be made into fibers.

Picking flowers, studying inspiratinals are going to be your easiest things to do that lower insanity for now. Also, whittling things will lower it if you have gotten that far. If not, you probably should since its rather easy to get. During bloom (its currently coldsnap so no butterflies) catching butterflies lowers it as well.

Later on, make a bed and sleep it in when logged off, make a bugle and use, roll dough.

For now, DO NOT pull bee singers, pull salamander tails, wring turkey necks. Probably a lot of other things I am forgetting to mention such as finding Tom Thubs fingernail in a pie etc will increase insanity.

No matter what, you gain insanity slowly over time, so keep picking and studying. Go foraging (picking flowers, checking stumps) and search for Indian feathers and arrows, make savage charms from them and sell them to the npc in prov for silver. Make yourself a tobacco pipe (not sure what skill/skills needed are check the wiki maybe). Use the silver to buy some tobacco from the npc if you gain a madness level. Most likely you'll need to buy several. A few levels of madness won't kill you, so don't stress too much over it. Just be mindful of your tools and little things sneaking up on you like timber terror (shows up in your left hand and until removed deducts a hammer and nail skill per action) or The Precious (turns gems into fractured gems) etc. etc. When collecting coal, do it with an empty inventory cause ..well if you ever get that little flame from it, you will know what I say this. Also, drop this greedy creature asap.

Once you do have a bed, be in the market for the MATERIALS to make a teddy bear. DO NOT buy a teddy from someone else. Teddy bears reduce a level of madness when used (held in your hand) sleeping in a bed for hours. However, they can be cursed and cause you nightmares so yes, buy the materials and make it yourself.

If you enjoy farming, tier 1 cotton cloth sells for 15s at the npc in prov, can be a nice little profit. Buy yourself some tobacco seeds with that once you have tobacco farming and tell the insanity system to kiss your rosey red behind. If your playing alone, you gotta farm like it or not so..yea, there should be some tobacco in your future. Either you or a friend etc.

There is no way to check insanity levels. Madness levels show up on the default client, easiest to see on the smiley mask. 0 has a really big smile, 1 has a bit of a smile..on and on till it starts frowning, skull showing a bit. If you hover over your biles I think the default client says 1 which means no madness up to 10. The custom clients say 0 meaning no madness up to 9. Either way, at 10/9 respectively, you croak.
As if I care.
