Safe trading and homestead secrets

My 2012 bad feelings with HS is still in dis-belief of the tutorials and trade forums so I wanted to ask and clearify for myself.

What is considered "safe" now in regards to giving away your HS for trading.. Can they still use the free teleport to come to your base or has that been totally replaced by the world survey?

Do I need to change it right after the trade is completed or is that being paranoid?

Do you basically have to have a trade alt still or is it safe to come into town for the most part?

Is my HS just a way to do "friend requests" now nothing more nothing less?

Is my HS just a way to do "friend requests" now nothing more nothing less? Mainly for that. Just avoid grouping with people you do not know as when you go home they will have an arrow in your direction.

There's no arrow in your direction unless you've partied up with them, not just kinned. If you just kin via HS then they'll be able to see when your on and see your characters name above you.
