They are completely separate servers, but Providence is the one the client connects to by default to handle the character selection UI. You can change the JNLP file to connect to Popham instead if you would so want to.

What should we use instead of:
-Dhaven.defserv="game.salemthegame.com"

I tried and failed with this:
-Dhaven.defserv="fludd.seatribe.se"

It should be game.salemthegame.com:1606.
