How to boil bark in a clay pot

So i have a clay pot over my firepit and the pit is lit but how do i boil the bark? it is inside the pot but it doesnt seem as if it would boil. i think i am supposed to fill water in but how do i do that? thx for your help

Empty the pot, take the pot off the fire. Either right click a full bucket onto your pot to fill it water or right click the pot on shallow water to fill.

Then put the pot back on the lit fire and put the bark in.

better lit fire before putting the pot on it.
that way it is ensured that the pot finds the fire light
