Not with dirt over your head. If you can't move then you will shortly be teleported to your leanto

not true, as far as I am aware this situation still requires dev intervention (or an alt to come dig you out, possibly).
Carrying stuff over your head currently keeps you from logging out.
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

The response from JC was pretty much, don't worry, eventually you will KO. So dev intervention is out, at least during the week of the final launch...after I sent him a pm I realized the server had crashed earlier and they are probably super busy getting ready for the release.

Of course, that kinda tough love from the dev team is what makes this game so good, but at the same time, when its an out of game issue, what I am calling the meta-game monster, it is still frustrating.

If I don't defend my base, and I get raided, and cry about it, those tears are fair game for harvesting. When the metagame monster kills you, those tears should not be harvested.

The thing is that this problem has presented before, and the developers fixed it by draining yellow bile when you are carrying something, it was your mistake and it's expected that you learn from it.

Just an aside.. if you keep a sled on your back, getting in that situation won't be a problem. click-drop the sled and drop the dirt onto it, and you're free to move again.
