Many Questions for the Dev's

Postby Claeyt » Sat Jun 13, 2015 8:04 am

These are questions for the Dev's that I think many mid level and beginning players should know. Please keep trolling to a minimum and I know you dev's are busy so please just answer them when you can before the Expedition begins and thanks if you do.

Questions about the Drama this week:

First, I have many questions for the Dev's about the what happened this week's Drama:

1. Poison Darts seem very over-powered during a blood moon and over-powered in general. They force all players to keep both Rattler venom antidote and Quetzalcoatl venom antidote with them whenever they log into the game during the blood moon. There are also several non-damage combo's it seems that darts can do that seem extremely hard to counter. Are all these intended mechanics of the 'Poison System? it basically means it's impossible to defend your place during a blood moon unless you'e willing and able to use poison as well.

2. Are Doughnut Waste Claims allowed? I thought they weren't allowed anymore.

3. How did Darwoth wall jump into Helm's Deep with the Poison Dart alt? Was he logged off inside the town already from months ago before the poison system was introduced and then simply used larceny to place poison darts and inspi's to get the skill into the Alt's lean to at his own town?

4. Is using lean to larceny to place items into secretly placed alts now a thing? This seems like it's ripe for abuse. Was it intended?

5. You told me in PM that Darwoth didn't have access to the test server or the ability to test new systems before the rest of us. Did he ever have access to the test server and if so what mechanic did he last have access to before us? Do any other players have access to the test server to get a jump on mechanics?

6. Stealing keys to trap people inside a town under a waste claim or TbC seems really open for abuse. I don't think a character should die due to being unable to open doors they just had a key to yesterday before a simple larceny alt stole their keys. Is it possible you could make keys unstealable to prevent loss of character from theft of keys alone? Is this an intended mechanic? They have no use to the thief besides griefing the other players who's defenses have been breeched and then trapping them there.

Questions about the Expedition:

Overall I love the idea of the expedition, and plan to play it but I have some major qualms about how the mechanics are going to be re-introduced to Providence after the expedition ends:

Cannons

1. I think cannons are great for the expedition but over-powered in general game-play. Are they going to be allowed on Providence after the expedition's done?

2. Cannons destroy all people and walls in front of them when they go off. Do they also destroy all buildings?

Livestock

1. I'm really looking forward to livestock but I'm wondering how they get back to Providence. Will only the winners be allowed to bring livestock back to Providence? How exactly will livestock come from the Expedition to Providence?

2. You've said that the expeditions will take between 4 months to 2 years to complete. If only the winners can bring livestock back to Providence will we maybe have to wait 2 years for them?

3. Are horses going to be part of livestock or is that a future patch?

New Stuff

1. I love the new statues. Will there be any new inspi's, items, clothing, monsters or crafting thingy's available on the Expedition only?

Winning the Expedition

1. I'm unclear on how exactly someone is determined a 'Winner' of the expedition. Does it basically mean that whichever group's town's tier 3 witch prays at all 6 statues first wins and that all her TOWN MEMBERS also win and can bring back all their stuff?

2. It seems that the losers can at least inherit some of the skills and biles of their characters on the expedition to a character on Providence which is nice but you've also talked about maybe including a chest full of whatever they can fit into it which I also like the idea of. Is that going to happen?

Literally looking for the button that un-purples me.

Why is that a question for a dev?

I don't see how this is abuse. If you don't want to get trapped like this, don't let your keys get stolen.

Seriously though, there is a thread for expedition discussion and we've answered those questions there.

As for the other questions, why are you asking us? Most of this is just you not understanding the mechanics.

I checked. None of the Expedition questions have been answered yet.

As for misunderstanding the mechanics, I don't think it's that. I just want to know if those are intended aspects of the mechanics. I don't think larceny of keys should lead to death through another mechanic. I'm just wondering if you guys intend to keep that in there and I also want to warn players who don't know this stuff.

What mechanic is it that allowed Darwoth to appear inside a town where the walls were intact, the mines were walled in and he had no perms?

Poison Dart combo's are intended?

Reverse larceny is intended?

Can I at least get a few answers?

I'll gladly move my questions about the expedition if you want.

Everything you are concerned about is working as intended.

I'm fairly sure it was explained to you on a livestream today from an ex-Helmsdeep member that it was their own town that let Darwoth in.

Someone let a different alt in that they kicked back after he tried for Bankee, not the one with the darts that killed the 2 guys. There were 2 different guys inside somehow.

Is that right?

in spite of you thinking (and spreading) otherwise i have yet to log into the test server, have been offered to help test things where my input may have been useful as have many others but for my part i never got around to it for various reasons. those i know of who are on the test server are not gleaning any "big secrets" that give them an edge over anyone else during the brief and structured testing sessions that are overseen by the devs, mostly they get to see things like new animals or skills a week or two prior to them coming out. big ***** deal, and you should be happy there are people helping to refine the game.

with the amount of time you have been here if you were a respected player among the community instead of a universally recognized assclown i am sure you would have been given a chance to poke around as well, but since the developers do not want an ******* making up **** and tarnishing the games reputation you just get dunce hats instead. (on that note the tin foil hat is appropriate here i think)
