Scars and disfiguration

Postby solitude_stalker » Tue Jun 09, 2015 3:22 am

So, I do not know if this has been suggested before, but scars didn't show up much in search so...

Scars!! and loss of limbs, and hands, and fingers, and other bloody stuff.

We already have diseases, bleed effects and broken or lost limbs. Why not take it a bit further... with possibility to get/ear scars.

Scars from fighting bears or dark creatures that give you affluence or terror effects/bonuses.

Or scars from fighting turkeys, or rabbits, or disease that decrease affluence and make you grotesque. Getting scars from turkeys and rabbits decrease affluence if you are not a new player (i.e scalp score above certain level)

Also, balms, herbs, or spells that cure scars.

Scars heal over time so you have to keep fighting bears to keep your terror effects. However, witches gain scars or decay over time and become grotesque, and have to keep sucking youth by using curses and hexes. Also, it would be interesting to see people mistake a grotesque person for a witch while all they have done is fight a **** ton of bears.

I dunno if this would be possible but just a suggestion.

I like both these concepts. I think they can be pretty big mechanics though so something we will add to our list for future expeditions.

Warhammer online or WoW tried something like this at first, but scrapped it because of the load. The level of variation from load times was so great because each character could load hundreds of different things. But if you could pull it off, I loved the concept.

I was thinking you could treat scars as artifacts that "slot" automatically into your body and give artifact bonuses that are not necessarily positive. Also, scars don't have to varied but a gash on your head/body for affluence or pock marks for grotesque which, hopefully, would not require much load. Or I hope so. what did WoW try? Were they really particular abt the nature and position o the scars?

But that was because they actually displayed the scars on the characters, if you just have it as essentially a list of "items" on the equipment screen then it shouldn't be nearly that heavy.

well I thought it could be a list of items + a gash across your face or something. Like when you equip a belt and the belt shows up, something similar. The scars would not be unique for every character. You would have like four different battle scars and four different disease scars, and any character would have only two (one battle, one diesease scar) at any time.

What if sitting around a campfire with someone who has these scars gives you some C&D and some insanity at the expense of BB. Much like sitting in a church gives you F&W.
