Getting Back in the Saddle

Postby Keir » Mon Jun 08, 2015 7:16 pm

Good day, fellow Pilgrims. I have a question for you, though I admit it's not a question everyone is able to help me with.

How did you get back in the saddle?

To clarify, when you lost your first character - first MAIN character - how did you recover?

Since my death, I've been having quite a bit of difficulty regaining the passion for the game I had prior to my demise. With madness now introduced, along with the Providence teleport timer (don't get me wrong, I love both these changes, though I admit they make starting over more difficult), the task looks as momentous as ever.

I never played the Game of Alts, and as such I don't have anything to fall back on, and my last attempt at starting over ended with all my possessions being stolen and my leanto destroyed while I was on vacation.

I understand that all of this is part of the game, and I'm sure many of you will take this as whining or bellyaching, and perhaps it is. But for my own sake, and the sake of other who lost a character that they placed months of work into, I'd like to hear some success stories. I'd like to know what motivated you to keep going, because I'm having an awfully hard time with it myself. I love this game - especially the book patch, I've been very excited for it (and disappointed that my death was so soon before it was released) - and want to return to it, but I'm worried I just don't have what it takes.

So tell me, Pilgrims, how did you overcome the melancholy that now overwhelms me? How did you get back in the saddle?

Helps if you have friends who play with you, keeps it interesting, and usually help you get back to your current stats.

Having friends makes no difference unless you have access to their accounts, which is allowed. ITS not hard to get back on your feet if you have passion for the game. However over time this game falls short of what you thought it would be like. You like it but once you see the nasty side it has, it sux!

Sometimes roleplay helps. Try imagine yourself as your character. You know, like when you were young and pretend to be the captain/supaman/whatever.
You thought I quit.

Darwoth, how many times have I told you not to talk so bad about yourself. I guess those self help tapes didn't help.

After my frist death, I just had to look at it as not starting over but as a learning experience. Go from there. let you death fuel your revenge.
