Looking to join a group and prepare for Expeditions.

Postby Atreties » Mon Jun 08, 2015 9:22 am

I started playing Salem about a week ago now. I already have a sizable(for a noob), decently defended p claim, 50 humors, 700+ scalp score, and have quite a bit of cotton production going. It's not much, I know, but it's hopefully evidence that I learn very quickly and would be useful to a group. I take direction well and would be a valuable resource to an expedition group.

Unfortunately, none of my MMO or other gaming friends are interested in a game as intense and hardcore as Salem, so I cannot do a group myself. I want very much to experience the expedition, though, and want to be on an even playing ground with the veterans.

Thanks for taking the time to read my post. If you're looking for a good set of hands to aid you in the expeditions to come, I'm your man.

PM me and/or reply here if you're you'd like to talk more.

You will get a very diffrent feel to the game from expeditions, as the main aim is to get farm animals to bring back to the main server. Lasting only about 3 months the expedition will not only be a very cut throat in its self but also be on a smaller map and im sure will have other ways to encorrage conflict between players.
I wish you the best of luck finding a group to pug with, I know many are looking for extra people to fill in roles, but please dont go into expeditions expecting it will just be like the main server but with everyone starting with nothing. You will still not be level pegging with most people who have been playing this game for a while. They know the paths and tricks and most will be in groups that have been working with each other for at least six months, likely longer. Deers and bears will likely be killed within the first few days and as soon as coal is finished you can bet the wought will be ready to be made.
Do not argue with idiots, for they will pull you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

Thank you, I appreciate the reply.

I understand the nature of expeditions, and I know they will be quite intense. And of course I know that veterans will know much much more than me, and that I will have a rough time

Sign me up. Seems like a good time and a good way to learn.

Since Expeditions will be a fresh start, that implies the more people you have, the better. And the more organized, the better. At the start, the group willing to put down $100 for enough silver to buy a town claim and take over a valued statue will be far ahead of others. Solo play will only be viable in the sense that raiding resources will be best spent elsewhere, and that you will learn some of the mechanics of the game before Providence.

I am quite surprised there isn't more talk looking for others. I'm thinking a group of 20 organized now is better than trying to get a few extra to join in when there is risk to be had in losing a base due to poor management.

I'd like to group up with you if possible, and get others as well to join in.

In my opinion , it's really really not "the more people you have, the better" like Vexus said.

I think we have seen in Providence (and older server) , that a lot of town have felt from betrayal and insiders who helps attackers. That could change in the Expedition because attack/defense will be change to make easier attack without the need of an insider (Dev said that there will be "a lot of fighting" and "Still tweaking exactly how I want to nullify walls. But yes, I have no intention of players being able to hold back an overpowering raiding party for longer than a day if not 12 hours.") . That's why I'm mostly agree with Lusewing : I think major group/factions will not get new recrue , and anyone outside of these group will have a very hard time surviving ^^

In the other hand it's a good opportunity for new players to make their own group / town. There's of course a big chance to be betrayed , a big chance to be rolled-over by bigger pilgrims ... but as we will all be dead in the end of the Expedition , it doesn't matter so much how we will die .

Yes, Expeditions are not for those who are scared or concerned for safety. It is a free-for-all in a smaller setting and will be harsh.

No one is thinking it is going to be carebear land, so I don't think the warnings are necessary. In addition, having more people, when managed well, is always going to be better.

You surely mean the first few hours LOL ?

Do expect people to be dumping $$$$ into the cash shop as well to gain some serious advantages.
