I just started the game 2 weeks ago, so this is my first blood moon season and I am wondering how long does it take to change to an other season without "praying" ?

Because right now I can't even go to the Providence church (not enough "Affluence") and I am living the life of an "hermit" in a sense where I only come to Providence to buy what is out of reach for me to get or craft.

This is really bad news for my character who doesn't have a viable way to lower his madness (currently at 3) because of the lack of silver, character strength and proficiencies.

As a new player, I wonder how this gameplay mecanic isn't pushing away everyone who just started. I understand that is encouraging players to join existing towns in exchange of some "protection".

I also understand that if someone owns a stall in providence and is able to mass-produce products linked with the mecanic (different tier of tobacco, bear pelt, fluffy stuffing) will drown in silver coins with a low princing politic.

Just don't let your madness go up more. Go back to your base and whittle away making a few things. Setup a gluttony session. Just do calming things. Study till you have no more inspiration. Stay away from coal clamps, mines, and sawbucks and make sure you study something every 5 mins or so. That will keep your insanity low and you can work on removing the madness later. I am sure that someone will be selling teddy bears soon enough. If you do not have a wall around your claim you can work on that I do not think there is a psychotic episode associated with building walls or chipping stone.

That need to be changed. My cousin didn't share political standpoint with heads of a state, few decades ago, so he was sent to chip some stones on one cousy island. He is still quite psychotic after that...B)

I guess I am in a bad situation : I live in a mine, 2 coals clamps are ready to harvest, and I desperatly need iron and dry boards...

Yep, basicly do nothing that can make the "crafting" part of the game progress...

Even picking up flowers for insanity and proficiencies purposes gave me "the scratching yourself untill you die" psychotic episode (I stopped it before but it's frustrating to shatter the crafting system which is the strength of this game).

I need to understand this sentence : "Remember, you only lose your sanity when you stay online doing NOTHING" (JohnCarver).
Does this mean when, for example, I'm sorting my inventory for a minute so my character isn't moving or doing something, am I actually gaining insanity ? I just hope it is based on every action the server is able to register.

The sentence "Remember, you only lose your sanity when you stay online doing NOTHING" is later reworded in the same thread that you gain sanity naturally while in game doing normal (not calming) tasks.

When I first read it I too thought it was combating afking, instead its simply a constant gain of insanity while only that has to be combated in the same constant, else you go mad.
As if I care.
