ho is there a way to not logoff corrently? u go sleep and ur logged off...

Yea i think the server maybe miss handling the way people are logging off, OR the devs are trolling.

Well considering you claimed to have logged off correctly but when JC checked the logs you were on for a additional 4 hours.

Since you get kicked of your account, this does not makes sense to me.

If it's true that the game thinks you are online after you already logged off but kept the client open, then that's really sad, and a bug.

even if u only get kicked off ur char, that char would be logged off so both makes absolutely no sense but yeah Devs... always gotta find a excuse on why stuff is broken.

and yep i kept my client open and at character login but that would still mean all characters are logged off.

I investigated every claim of 'odd' insanity. Each time I verified the player did indeed do some very insane things and/or misrepresented their actions or play times.

Would be interesting to see a log of when the server is showing them logging out and compare to when the players are claiming they're logging out. Either some people aren't doing things right, or there is actually a bug in there somewhere.

In any case, server should handle all forms of closing the client as the proper logouts. Whether computer crashes, internet dies, client is closed or it crashes - server should handle all situations where a client connection is suddenly broken as if the player pressed the logout button (and keep the character logged in for the correct amount of time). There is no point making client application harder to use.

To note on console commands:

If you still want to do a console command to log out, but do it safely, use ":act lo". That was the original method to safely log out. (I'm not aware that this has changed, anyway.)

Have to agree with this for the most part. You can easily distinguish between a force close of a window and a lost network connection. (Send a message to the server on the window close action before the network connection is closed.) Doesn't mean the character actually gets removed from the world safely, but at least treat it as if the player intended to at least attempt it.

I just gained one level of madness while sleeping in my bed (being logged out) for more than 8 hours. This is basicly the second madness level i gained without having any idea where it is from. I havent done anything to gain even the smallest bit of insanity but have madness level 2 allready :\
