Stuck in a KO loop because of a cougar

Ive been knocked out about ten times becuase there is a cougar in my camp. I haven't been playing for very long so I don't do very much damage and I don't even have the big game hunting skill. While I respawn in my lean-to the cougar can't reach me but I cant make it to my bed about four steps away before the cougar engages in combat with me again and I can't log out and then I am quickly knocked out again. The cougar then stands over or around my dead body (which is nect to my lean to where I spawn) and the cycle continues. I can even hit it while standing in my lean to and I run out of yellow bile before dealing any effective amount of damage. Anyone have any tips or advice? I don't think this will ever end...

Agro it and lead it away from your bed. Once it's out of the way go to sleep and take a little break

Respawn, don't move, log out, wait 20 minutes (or a couple of hours), log in again and continue playing

The cougar re-engages me before I can logout. It can see me in my lean-to it just can't reach me. So when I click log-out it says I can't do that right now.

run and make it follow you away so you can log out.
