Ravenous Spark (And other madness consequences)

Postby Lincoln » Tue Jun 02, 2015 10:49 pm

Okay, so I recently obtained a Ravenous Spark and due to my complete ignorance I think it is a rare drop while collecting coal. I'm thinking awesome what is this thing? Suddenly all my coal starts disappearing from my inventory. The Ravenous Spark transforms into a Ravenous Inferno. WHOA! This is awesome it's consuming my coal and transforming into something else? I better feed it more coal so that it evolves! What is this game I'm playing? Pokemon? Okay, wait a second it's not only consuming coal now..it's consuming every item in my inventory. Wait a second WHAT THE HELL?!? Holy ****, my blood is dropping rapidly. Get RID OF THIS THING *tries to drop it* OH **** IT WON'T DROP. *KO* Okay, so clearly feeding it more **** was a bad idea. I am now KO'd and have discovered what a Ravenous Spark can truly become.

Here is what I learned for those who have not experienced this:

It is acquired due to having a level of insanity while collecting coal from clamps.

It will drain your blood and it will consume every last item in your inventory, INCLUDING SILVER (I think)

You will KO

Items in your backpack are not affected. If you have any madness/insanity (whatever we're calling it) store your most important goods in a backpack. They will not be consumed.

This information may not be 100% valid I just wanted to give other clueless people such as myself a forewarning. Maybe this can be a place to put a collective knowledge on things that can and will happen to you when suffering from madness. Discuss? I know I'm an idiot and ignorant no need to inform me of that, this thread is for other ignants such as myself. If you are a well educated Salem player then contribute or move on, this is a safe haven for retards.

EDITED TO ADD: Apparently if you acquire the "Ravenous Spark" dump your charcoal immediately. Feeding it charcoal evolves it into a "Ravenous Inferno" at this point it will start consuming everything. I have not verified this 100% so if someone else can chime in and I will update it for accuracy.

Haha, I hope that's you're way of supporting the thread idea. Or, just laughing at how incredibly dumb I am! Either way, thanks for the laugh JC. I literally cursed your name when this happened btw.

I cannot stop ROFLMAO at the idea of you thinking you hda a little 'pet flame' you were feeding the whole time.

Although, were you just losing blood by default? I believe the spark only burns you when you touch it no?

I met The Precious already. When you're panning rubble a ring like thing will appear in your inventory and a very angry Smeagol will start breaking any gems you have and turning them into fractured gems and if you touch the ring he yells at you, but you can still ctrl and shift click. Smeagol is currently in a box until he agrees to not be annoying.... and no you can't melt it down to make a golden egg.

What about your tools and clothing? Did you keep those? Keys?

I suppose that'd be too much trolling even for JC.

Even worse John, I was carrying a sled with chests full of charcoal. I not only burned the charcoal in my inventory. I stopped pulling the sled unloaded the chests and filled my inventory with the rest of the coal that I had stored. I thought this was a hungry little ****** that I had to keep feeding. I was like damn, this is a growing boy he certainly needs his charcoal. I BETTER GIVE IT TO HIM.

As far as the Blood draining is concerned. I do not know, I did not actually notice my blood draining I just know that I looked up and my blood very VERY low and I tried to ctrl+click it out of my inventory and drop it. After this happened I can't be sure if I died immediately or it took a few seconds. All that I know concerning the blood is I did not notice it was going down I just looked up and suddenly I'm very low, and ALL my items and not just the coal are rapidly being consumed so I decided it was time for whatever this little beast was to be released back into the wild.

Abraham Lincoln was not assassinated by John Wilkes Booth. He died to very bad decisions.

Clothing, items in backpack, keys and items in toolbelt were undamaged. Anything in your immediate inventory is fair game for food on this little *******.

Dang, I didn't realize the insanity would spread to the player.

EDIT: You know... I wonder if it could destroy the Precious.... While handling the flame did it feel lava like?

To be fair, I recognize how utterly stupid the decisions that led up to this were.
