A Sudden Lack of Acorns

Postby Lallaith » Mon Jun 01, 2015 6:38 pm

Greetings Pilgrims!

Today I'd like to share with you all a tale of a town.

In the course of my wanderings a couple of weeks ago, I encountered two leantos. In each leanto nested a beautiful Adventurer's vest, untouched and unslotted...

Now, not every day does one find such lovely items just laying out in the wild. These vests are legacy items, treasure if you will, to be hoarded, protected, loved and coveted. I had to wonder, what strange chance of fate had lead to this pair being cast out into the cold, left languishing out in the wilderness in a pair of apparently randomly placed leantos? Where any noob could stumble across them, and abuse them with broken slots and bad artifacts as I'd seen happen so many times before?! Just who would do such a thing?

I explored the area in search of clues to this mystery, and not far away I found a little town called Vigorous Acorns.

There was a player online inside, and I demanded of him to know why they had cast the lovely vests out into the cold and left them there. But no matter how I yelled at him, he wouldn't reply.

Eventually I took a better look, and realized he was only a mannequin. I left in embarrassment and forgot about the town for at least another week. But then, I heard a rumour...

Image

It seemed pretty legit, so I called upon the legendary Krusader Methuzelah to bring justice upon these baby beaver killing, vest abusing criminals.

Now, as we all know, most poachers are pretty dumb, and these ones were no different. Though they'd made an ok amount of walls and a few braziers, they had failed at placement and thus Meth and I had an easy time getting to their bell...

...Which was out of silver.

So fell the town of Vigorous Acorns.

With the bell removed, we quickly smashed into the four quarters of the town where we began breaking things and collecting loot. Fortunately, their p claims had no silver in them either, so they lost everything.

Inside, we found a large amount of things worthy to be taken home by us, yet there were no more legacy items and few things at all from the store. We concluded that they had gone mad, and decided they hate legacy items and store things and cast them out of their town.

The loot consisted of about 30 chests and 8 cupboards full of things ranging from a single needle and a few snake skulls to a large haul of high purity earthworm pythons. There was about 21k silver, several pieces of clothing with nice artifacts in them, some low grade crafting sets, 12 distillers, 3 gold bars, 5 or 6 fertile turkeys, steel bars and tools, and plenty of useful things like glues and multi use inspirationals etc. Here is a picture showing some of it.

Though they seemed quite inactive and failed to notice they were being wasted, the town was not abandoned. They appear to have been in 'maintenance mode', keeping their turkeys fed and checking out updates, but little more. At least one of them has been online since the raid.
