There is no reason that those that have 'gone native' could not learn advanced mechanical and structural skills.

Many natives of the era began adopting European technologies pretty early on. In turn, Europeans began adopting Native American cultural ideals and knowledge of how to cultivate the land. I don't see why they wouldn't be able to adopt any skills pilgrims can have. I've always been a fan of being able to play as a Native American from the get-go. They'd have their own version of Providence and all that kind of thing. Sadly, I don't think it'll happen. The best thing thing to hope for is for the ability to build teepees so we can at least roleplay as them ^_^.

When it comes to offending Native Americans, there's always the possibility. Though if research is done to ensure they're portrayed accurately and the usual stereotypes are avoided then it may actually receive some acclaim. Just don't do anything dumb like the Washington Redskins did when naming their team ¦] . (Hehe, I hope this sparks a drama-filled political debate.)

Well, technically if you were going off the title, the game would be about witchcraft in an already settled area of the New World, particularly in Salem, Massachusettes, not Providence. Even so, when talking about colonizing the new world, Native Americans were a big part of life back then and were the real reason why people built forts and brick walls. There were virtually no conflicts between pilgrims that were worth noting in history save for a few battles between colonies themselves, AKA New York vs Pennsylvania, I think? I can't remember.
