No it's the fact that we produce enormous quantities for trade that got us the reputation of being smelly. But it has no sense whatsoever. We produce mass perfume because people buy them and enjoy the products. That's all.

actually i have known many french people and all of the males smelled like total **** without exception, if you got within 5 feet of them it was like being in a dog kennel in august. the women are better, but not immune to being quite ripe themselves.

Well if you knew them in the army that's not very surprising.

I've always thought we had the reputation of being dirty because of the invention of the bidet tho.

You must not know very much about our history as you say then. We've traditionally had strong isolationist elements and still do to this day. Ever since our inception we could care less of other countries as long as we profit from their stupidity; the only different now being we control the currency they do business in.
