'Wild' 24% purity turkey poult!

I found one poult around Providence and picked it up, because I thought it was a duck lol.

So I picked it up, saw that it was of 24% purity, so someone probably abandoned it. However, in 2 seconds it disappeared from my inventory.

Did the poor little poult die? Was I too late to pick it up? Or is that a bug?

Do they leave something behind when they die or do they just disappear?

Poults will vanish when outside of the coop for too long.
