How do you fight deer?

I'm at a loss as to how to fight deer effectively. I'm at 80 YB and can kill deer most times when they don't instantly charge me and break my leg. I have read that you need to stay close to them so they don't charge, but that seems to only work some of the time. I've had deer charge me literally 2 squares away plenty of times. Often as their opening move. What can you possibly do when your YB is reduce by 75% from an opening combo?

there's a couple of ways.

I use stomp or bullrush to agro them. Then I stab them once while they're stunned. Then I go to guard and stay close to them or hide behind a tree to avoid their bone breaking charge. From behind the tree you can stomp them then stab them again while they're stunned. Just keep doing that and carry a fix for a broken bone and you'll be fine.

I see. Maybe I just need more YB so that if I do get a fracture I'm not completely *****. However, it seems that I would need a large amount of YB to be able to kill it after it fractures me. I'll have to try your strat a few times though. Thanks.

Don't use guard. Run will keep you next to the deer and not get charged.

the best way to avoid getting messed up by a deer is just have two people bull running and foot stomping. until you are able to use a sword you will have to be very careful. make sure there's a tree nearby to put between you and the deer in case you do make a mistake. if you are able to agro a deer near a board pile you can foot stomp easily through the board pile and get the deer caught on the edges. the best way to kill deer early on is to not fight fair.

I feel like the deer ai has been changed in regards to the distance for the charge.It has happened to me and I have seen it happen to others. Deer are charging when they are directly next to you. The only correlation I see is if you do not attack the deer for a period of time. Jabbing at it keeps it from occurring. I could be wrong but I have seen this happen to myself and others.

Deer can be killed with as little as 15-20 biles with nothing but punching, upper cut and bullrush.

Open by using bullrun to get a long stun then use punch 3-4 times.

If you are <20 biles it is strongly advised to use guard here as the deer will hit you 2-4 times due to youre lack of damage and a long fight.

You follow the deer as close as possible, eventually the deer will turn in your direction and get stuck on your hit box, this is the time to use upper cut once (twice if he does not move after the first one).
Repete the above step of following/uppercut when the deer is stuck untill it is dead.

The deer should never charge you, and using stomp is not advised as the deer can walk out of range and use charge on you.

If you are above 30-40 biles you can swap out guard for run as the damage reduction will not be required from the deers physical hits.

By far the worst way to kill a deer.

I personally just like avoiding their spaz attacks entirely, intercept its gob path with a stomp, run behind something, wait for it to get in range then pre-stomp again, rinse and repeat till done. With small hitbox items like birch trees and similarly thing stuff you can also roundhouse/halberd through it for a hit or two. I find they charge whenever they damn well please, and have done so at point blank range with me, in fact, in chains of 3. Now that i can stab for decent amounts i just stomp, stab, stab.

What's all the fuss about?

Just bullrun and stab once or twice depending on biles and its dead.
If you don't have the biles to do this you probably don't need deer meat to glutton anyway
