Seemed pretty obvious to me sometime was trying to trigger the blood moon but was falling short. Hit 8 darkness a few times and even 0 once last night. Was fun.

when the season is actually blood moon, the season image will change towards a reddish moon with a skull on it. It hasn't happened yet, I think.

Do you mean that darkness effects take place in non-darkness areas during a blood moon?

This darkness is purely cosmetic i think. I didn't notice a drain.

I was in a Church area in both instances, so no idea if it is cosmetic or not.

I have heard that on the 5th day after the light flickers, there shall be a blood moon. I really didn't believe this at first but now it has me thinking it is on the way. I urge you all now to prepare for the blood moon. Bunker down then lock yourselves away until it passes.
