No more Alts

I know... I'm sure this is gonna be a hated topic... but I hope you at least think about it...
what do I lose if I just use alts to incite you, and my alts can't even be traced back to "Me" meta, whist I can use them to assist my main in wiping you out? no risk to me.. perma-death is frail if I just throw alts at you... I'm probably not conveying my message correctly, and that's cause I'm of the impression this will be dismissed outright, so, like having alts, why waste the effort right?

If i am reading this right. you are thinking about people having a alt army. Yes it happens but eventually you will be found out. Having a millions alts is great for griefing noobs but you won't be doing much more. People will find you eventually and they will wipe out you and your base

I wouldn't say an "army" per se... but I don't see how you could be "found out"...
What I'm saying is that you can use an alt to do all your "dirty deeds" and that leaves you a "main" to reap all the rewards... possibly without recourse, cause you can't summon a main for an alt's indiscretions...

If a character is developed enough to perform crimes, they stop being alts. The difference between an alt and a character is the amount of effort that goes into them.

Anyway, any discussion about limiting alts needs to provide a mechanic for accomplishing this.

you're implying mechanic as in a means to prevent multi-accounting I assume?

Well... why are we allowed alts in the first place? is it merely that we have no current means to "police them" as it were?

This issue has been long discussed over a number of times. One of the best responses I've had is the issue of character value with regards to permadeath.

Farmers need a lot of Stocks and Cultivar levels to be good farmers for a village. If the village farmer can't have an alt, he's forever stuck in the role of a farmer. Going outside, or going to fight is not worth the risk of that investment. As such, the only thing in the game that he can access is farming, or he risks massive village investment to do otherwise.

Salem already suffers from the issue of uncontrolled risk, taking away alts further compounds this issue. Although alts definitely pose problems, in the same breath getting rid of them poses more problems in my opinion. As such I don't think we should try to get rid of them.

But you're also right, for a small dev team policing alts would be an utter nightmare.
It's been neat to see the evolution of a game. Salem has come so far, and still has far to go. Although frustrating, I think it's been an experience worth the effort.

And game login is unrelated to forum right? so one cannot be distinguished from the other without allowing it... right?

i always lol at the people that bring up this crap, because preventing people (somehow) from making more than one character is not only a great idea that will make people want to play more and keep them from getting bored longer but is totally possible in a free game that will take 5 minutes to make a new account.
