Steaks and animal husbandry

Postby Scilly_guy » Mon Apr 20, 2015 11:39 pm

So with the up coming animal husbandry/expeditions extravaganza I am getting curious about how new meat will work.
I'm really hoping that butchering animals is much more exciting that getting meat chunks (steaks), steaks, cuts and shreds. It would be great if butchering cows at different stages gives different quality meat; veal, prime beef, beef and tough beef. Also if you receive different types of steaks; topside, braising, sirloin, t bone, fillet. I also hope there is some method for getting different tiers of meat, as well as the different qualities, (perhaps via grazing over barn rearing) this then gives a massive scope to recipes.
Veal - Very young Calves
Prime beef - Older calves
Beef - Young cows
Tough beef - Old cows and bulls
Golden (yellow) Tier 4 - Raised entirely outside requires supervision for days, only available from top towns
Spotted (phlegm) t2 - Spends some life indoors
Red t2 - Spends some life indoors
Black cattle t1 - Spends most of its life indoors

AND on top of that you have to have selective breeding. But anyway, I am sure the devs have a lot of exciting things planned regarding animals.

Grain fed cattle can be butchered for more meat but grass/hay fed cows have better heal/glutton values.
