The Sweet Spot for a Compass

Forum for suggesting changes to Salem.

How much should a Compass Cost

$1.00 or less? why are you charging us for a good idea in the first place. It should be easy to venture where I have already been, or blaze a trail a friend has already traveled in the first place.

$2.50 I don't want to see everybody porting around this world for free or with no cost. But for that price I can see the use of teleporting to a new village that just recruited me, or some other use.

$10.00 Sure, maybe we let people do this but it certainly shouldn't be all that common or raiders will simply abuse it too much. I want it to be costly for somebody who is late to a raid or late to guarding a waste claim to catch up with his friends.

$100.00 Why are we discussing this. They have waypoints now AND horses. If you cannot spend the 3-5 hours to get from Point A to Point B. Play a different game. I only choose $100.00 because at least the game makes some money and the dev's add more stuff in exchange for these lightweights who can't travel.

I am with the others. Try to get back to your friend is not a good reason for raiders to get to you quick.
The situation could be as worse as Darworth raiding 10-20 villages every sunday just by sitting down, buy some compasses, buy some maps, raid, rinse and repeat.
If, somehow, you can make that item usable ONLY by friends, and it will teleport you to your friend, not using a map... Nah, honestly, not worth it :(
One can make up hundreds of reason for a lack of interest. Most of them are false.

As it should be

We both know that this more then likely wouldn't happen. Most people will roll over or log out.

The teleport in HnH was limited by having different outpost spread across the map with signpost and towns. It really made things ******. It's one of the reasons it wasn't brought into Salem. Putting a monetary limit on it would make things MUCH different but it brings a pay to win aspect to the game. Those who are lazy or desperate will drop money and bring their friends or murder alt to a battle. It's good for the company wallet but I feel it's bad for the game.

With the landmarks and horses people really don't have much of a travel time at all.

Fair points. I see the $100.00 option as a "NO" vote basically anyway. But wanted to put a dollar on it anyway just so people could have a 'worst case' option to vote for.

I'll wait to see after the Animal Husbandry Patch (if it allows us to breed our own horses). Having the possibility to get your own steed at locations at your choice will be a major breakthrough in the way we travel in Salem. Especially if the horses have different traits - such as more speed, carry capacity, fighting capabilities, etc. Why is traveling from a point A to a point B is so daunting when you've already done the trip once? It's because for 3 hours what you'll only do will be click there. Avoid tree. Click here. Avoid stump. Et.. IF that's only that for 30min with the fun of riding your horse and see the landscape unveiling before your eyes then it's all good. I put the 100$ option as a wait and see.

if your going to add one i would make it a 10 - 20 dollar item, however i am not entirely sure they should be added as nearly a dozen port points should be more than enough for anyone that is not a total ***** anyway, **** is a hell of a lot easier than when i had to leapfrog a ten minute scent 9 hours across the map at half the run speed we can now enjoy with no tea  . making things to retard proof creates the trap most games have where the early generation resents the ***** wow crowd that the game was dumbed down to cater to.

Im going to say no. While I do miss the easy travel I had in Haven and hearth I feel that adding horses (and wagons) will ballence the traveling issue

The solution for new people who decide to join their friend later on is letting people use the map 3 times. Will that work?
Btw poll looks pretty clear. Unless you're in the US government.

Why not limit it by skill? Have murder? Yep no teleporting for you! Or something like that. I mean, why would they escort a murderer out and about?
