you get imbalanced almost each attack!
so dmg increases.
cougars have the nasty habit of stopping just out of stomp range and then charge. therefore are hard to stun. and they always try to get behind you, so they do more dmg.
they also deal highest bleed of all animals in "civilized"area. so you got a good chance to die after combat anyway

managed to kill one in single combat but couldn't use stomp or thrust. it was a hard piece of work with punch and uppercut.

My tactic: Just bullrun to them before they aggro you, 2x thrust and they are dead.
