The funny thing is, for me EVERYTIME this message comes up, i get the option to restart at my homestead WITHOUT loosing my inventory.

(Seriosly, i get this message at least once a week, unsure why it is different or what situation causes you to respawn at home without loosing inventory, i think its providance/town location related)

If you are in a location you can port from, next to your leanto, in prov, or on your homestead claim, you don't loose your stuff.
