About coins

What purpose of coin's year? I've made a collection and found that it does not affect collection's purity.

The purpose is to collect them all pokemon sytle, and put them into your pokeball (piggybank) then do battle trade them with friends. In other words the purpose is self created / helps the economy

I want to be able to chuck my rare coins in the well in exchange for a very small chance of a very small and short lasting luck buff, the rarer the coin the greater the chance.
