I would say that it's a lump of granite, but I don't see any granite on the minimap

You can see some brown pixels between the branches. They have different hue that the purplish ground. There are also bright pixels under the branches, which would look like legs. It might even look humanoid

Could it bee?

Kinda makes sense they would add some sort of killer wasp since they are adding bees.
Do not argue with idiots, for they will pull you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

Most likely it's some kind of terrain. Maybe some kind of witch-corrupted burnt ground?

Actually the black is called Taint, it's a special tile piece that was introduced during the Halloween Events (if you remember Maudney changed the ground to this around her).

I may even try the unmodded client again.

The 4 biggest things I use from Lat's client are the extendable mini-map, the grid, the sort button and the camera angle. I like the mini map but is the map thingy required? Is the roving camera angle standard now or still a command function? How about a sort button for the massive inventory? I'm willing to go without my gob paths and I respect your dislike of them but the other 4 aren't game breaking at all and are super helpful in creating a fluid playstyle.
