Scents exist to make it possible for crime to be committed and fought against, and when we compare it to a lot of other ideas it works out quite well. For instance you specialize a character to steal from a lento that someone improperly defended. This character does not require many skills for general theft. Yet you may require an character for assault as well as landing killing blows. This would require a completely different character as you are moving more skills into combat than general traveling to commit theft. Thus as it is I believe scents work quite well. Salem offers something interesting in comparison to H&H: Much easier to make crime alts and counter ranger alts.
This does not means scents are all of a sudden useless as we can all make throw away characters. It simply means the system is on a faster track than compared to H&H. I can still locate the area of operation, if it is not an intelligent player who distances their crime operation, and put an end to it quite easily; same in H&H. It is quire the opposite actually as scents are working as they are intended. Those who disagree can go play H&H and see the same **** going on in Salem at a far slower track. ^.-
I spent alot of time with DIS, oddi and AD and have never saw the use of crime alts.....ever.
Scents work so well in this game that people don't commit crimes.....on their combat characters.
yeah but the worse part they take a few torn tentacles, a few smoked oysters and vóila u got a ready larceny alt in 10minutes to throw away wich in reality should take days or weeks to make for crimes.
