Do not argue with idiots, for they will pull you down to their level, then beat you with experience.

I think this is a good idea. In the meantime you can name him by giving him a unique purity.

I find coarse salt to be an overly annoying ingredient to gather for the food recipes it is a part of. Can we grind coarse salt into 1 kg of ground salt - and change the recipes to require .25kg of ground salt in lieu of 1 coarse salt?

you end up with tons of the stuff if you work in mines a lot, and it's not that hard to get with a dedicated salt forager on the ocean coast.
that said, I concur that the continued use of coarse salt is belittling. What are we, barbarians? I demand fyne salts!

Deal with it. : )

Salt is like deep frying. You want it on everything; even your watermelons.
Keep calm and stay peachy.

Forgive me if any of the following have already been suggested (a quick search didn't find anything):

1. Pretzels: any flour + course salt + water.

2. Mustard: can be foraged (just another flower) or grown from a new world gourd (to make it more rare). This gets into food stuff which is probably beyond the scope of what you are looking for but I would just like to throw a few ideas out there. The plant can be ground into mustard powder (or seeds) and if combined with water + jar to get mustard sauce. Would work with a variety of recipes.

3. We have tomatoes so ketchup seems like a logical extension.

4. Journaling: The idea would be to have a log book with predetermined entries that appear when something happens. For example: you "accidentally" make a wicked wickerman mask and you didn't see what materials were used. You check your log book and it says "you discovered a altered recipe for wickerman mask using an old singing log instead of a regular log." Make it searchable so you can find things again.

5. Cartography: a new skill perhaps. Allows the pilgrim to "discover" the areas around them. My thoughts are that you have given us a map already so let us make marks on it (homestead and other user defined markings) to give us a better idea of where we are on the map. Areas that we haven't discovered could be fogged out and the details of discovered areas can be as accurate or fuzzy as deemed appropriate. Could require tools, or dried bark and charcoal on a stick. Could require someone to use the skill for a minute to "mark" the map for that map area.

I realize this has turned into more than simple ideas but I thought they might be worth putting here. Again, sorry if these have been discussed before; I did try a search on these topics at least.

Player Stalls to buy items from players? I've seen MMOs do this, you set the item, price, quantity, then players can sell you stuff. Be great to sell those rare inspirationals.
