Of course upon further thinking i'm wondering whether the server can handle a sudden x5-10 in numbers of items stored/tracked if they implement the weight system in containers too. It probably benefits greatly from the fact that people have to actually make an effort not to store stuff they don't absolutely have to. I guess JC knows the server side impact of the changes to the inventory during the last patch.

The alternative being... don't store a bunch of crap that's easy to gather. This sort of attitude is why I wanted to do something more like a multi bag system where the inventory space is still also rather limited. Or having a weight and bulk system. You just have way too much room in your inventories right now and it's making you entitled.

There should be limitations on how much **** you can carry in general. All the inventory update did was give an excuse to actually build alt. vaults as you can store more **** per tile on them than other storage; depending on the material of course. Not really sure, nor really willing, how you would combat this idea outside of item limits and weight increase. Hoarding grass, berries, and other items might as well be considered bulk storage items, if you are making food to do any labor that is, as you can damn well carry an finite amount close to infinity.

The storage bag idea sounds a lot better than the current inventory system. That and I'm being biased as hell due to leaning towards H&H's inventory system.

Edit.
Didn't Dar suggest a system of using bags a year or so ago similar to another game? Can't be bothered to look for the post.
Keep calm and stay peachy.

Its nice to hear a dev say this. As a hoarder IRL I liked that it was hard to keep everything in game, I felt it was having a positive impact on my life, I was slowly being taught to throw away/use the useless crap. But not any more, I can keep EVERYTHING now.

Please explain to me where you see a problem if the pilgrims will be able to easily store so many things how much they want to. I really do not understand why developers are creating so many wonderful things for the different needs of the pilgrims at the same time trying to compulsion store this a lot of things in the small boxes.

In fact every time you do any work result of this work are the things. And you have to always think where to put these things. This restriction. And it's a pain.

Really what the reason of this pain?

If developers interested I can spend a tour of my hermit base to show how much those little boxes need for lonely hermit that did not need to throw out necessary things. And this despite the fact that after the last patch the alts greatly simplify the task of storage. My HS: BarnyHS

This "easy to gather" "crap" is needed for many things. Since this "crap" is taking hours to gather (not too easy), pilgrims need a lot of place to store it until they will gather other "crap-or-not" ingredients to use and combine it with "crap" they collected before.
Just take a look on length of your food recipes and think about planning.

Anyway, that's just silly. Single alt can be better then 16 sheds just because sheds aren't affected by new Encumbrance system.

Maybe I just planned my base location really well? But I've never found need to have more than a few grass on hand or a half dozen of each berry at a time. Similar for many other foraged items, I just gather when I need them.

I have 4 sheds, 5 cupboards, a little over 3 dozen chests (1/3 holding raw food in the house), a little over a dozen boxes, and the only time I have storage problems is when my cupboards start to overflow with raw ingredients because I just don't like cooking in game. If not for that, I'd probably not even need as many cupboards and house chests as I have.

Be honest now. How many boxes of wood chips and mouldy boards do you have because you figure you'll use them eventually? How many extra brains? How many arrowheads? How many foragables for cooking that you could really just gather in 10 minutes just before you cook instead of trying to store them? How much farm produce do you store, and how much do you Really need?

I suppose raiding or trading do make a difference, but the more you're successful at such things, the more you can afford to build more sheds and cupboards, and the land to put them on.

I need 4 cupboards, 20 chests and 3 sheds + Feasting Table for my gluttony sessions alone.
