The flying saucer is a tad bit over the top, but aliens are totally not out of place in a Lovecraft tinged game like Salem.
Aliens in Lovecraft have nothing to do with UFOs or little green men from Mars.
It's all about the cosmic horror of the old gods, the unfathomable knowledge which when confronted by men turns them mad. While American literature is often linked to a return to the sources, to a time before Eve ate the apple, a time of ignorant bliss linked with Nature, Lovecraft portrays the opposite. What would happen if mankind had the ultimate knowledge? And his answer: madness.
Yes, and where are those elder gods from? JohnCarver didn't introduce little green men, he has a crashed alien spacecraft. Lovecraft has aliens visiting earth all the damn time, he just doesn't called them Aliens.
