Salt gathering was far more common in Europe than the Americas, as boiling brine was always the main way of getting salt in the Americas.

I'd say grinding coarse salt should give fine salt which can be stored in bags and barrels. Then either type of salt could be used in recipes with different multipliers for each.

I have not seen this suggested anywhere however i have not checked all threads. One way to address the storage now that we have weight is maybe add a max weight to containers. Also adjust the max number of items for each container type to something reasonable. I think this adjustment would deal with most storage problems and would match well with the new weight inventory system. It seems common sense to me anyway.

True true. I think the reason why we haven't done it yet is because it is too radical and people will get nervous.

Why the ***** would a box have a weight limit if i can put in a 300 pound weight, or 7 pound baby, as long as it isn't as big as the box it should be fine to "store" the item.

I appreciate the emotion of your response but the suggestion is in line with the current inventory mechanics. Would you say the current wooden boxes mechanics are better than my suggestion? I mean if I put 15 feathers in that box i've "filled" it up? As weight is the measuring unit of our inventory at this moment, I just feel it would make sense to make it in some major way the measuring unit of our storage too. That mechanic would also deal with people's problem with foraged items that weigh next to nothing filling up boxes with 15 berries and 15 grass blades etc.

Why are you filling boxes with berries and grass? Do you really need to do that? I think if we added weight to containers, the containers won't really get bigger, you'd just be able to store less in them if you stored really heavy things.

This applies very much to new players (the storing of berries and other foraged stuff) as it helps alot with gathering cooking supplies and gluttony preparation. Someone with 10-20 humors just starting up on a claim does not have the inventory room to carry around 25 of each ingredient and the other useful stuff they carry around without getting encumbered fast. It also makes sense in the context of anyone who does not have rows upon rows of storage sheds inside their mature developed base since once you start farming on anything other than 2-4 fields the harvests start really piling up items.
With respect to the heavy item category i am sure that since most of those are in the industrial supply category there already is a structure in the planning to address larger storage of these heavy items.
All I am suggesting is having a system of inventory that stays consistent across the whole game mechanic. Right now it's a schitzophrenic one where on the body inventory is weight driven with over 1k slots while on the ground it's slot given. Yes I am aware it's being reworked but this is the suggestion thread for that process.
