Yeah, this is dumb. I'm pretty disappointed that aliens have been introduced to Salem. It seems pretty silly and out of place.

As the river rolled over the cliffs, my own laughing joy was drowned out by the roaring deluge of the water. The great cataract of Darwoth's Tears fell over and over endlessly.

The flying saucer is a tad bit over the top, but aliens are totally not out of place in a Lovecraft tinged game like Salem.

does not fit with the setting and is mildly retarded, but then again i always thought it would be hilarious if your typical swords/dragons mmo had a dev driving a muscle car around with machine guns and sunglasses etc. totally ***** on the immersion of all the nerds that would get mad about it so i can see the humor factor

also given aliens have visited now there is the possibility of discovering rare pieces of alien technology in the future and all manner of possible shenanigans that could bring.

Aliens in Lovecraft have nothing to do with UFOs or little green men from Mars.
It's all about the cosmic horror of the old gods, the unfathomable knowledge which when confronted by men turns them mad. While American literature is often linked to a return to the sources, to a time before Eve ate the apple, a time of ignorant bliss linked with Nature, Lovecraft portrays the opposite. What would happen if mankind had the ultimate knowledge? And his answer: madness.

For so long, until about a few months ago, i thought lovecraft was an even stupider version of minecraft.
