Not everyone are "pros" at games, and MOST gamers will always do the tutorial in any game because if gives them an overview of the game to know if its for them or not.

oh well, better luck next time.

now go away.

no, i didnt and im not interested enough to go check it. i said i shouldnt have mentioned "island" part.
now please stop advertising your thread here and get back on topic.

all those recent haven players can guess with a hint or two what you were talking about.
this forum has many players who dont want to hear of haven, some are allergic, and again, the situation is not the same.

You can do that easy actually. If i was more active and didn't have alts overflowing with silver i would be doing it alot more.

Funny how you try to call me the stupid one when the reality is you're subnormal at best. You're a carebear for multiple reasons and your ideas are the same. This tutorial **** you talk about is not needed, you do not need some safezone for newbies besides Boston. You're asking the devs to spend time making some stupid fantasy zone that is nothing like Salem for newbies to play in. Those same players quit the instant they're raided or lose a character regardless of if they played in that newbie zone or died from the chief outside of Boston. The fact you cannot comprehend that is well not all the surprising tbh, neither is the fact you can't comprehend it is up to people like you to inform players, write guides, and get newbie villages going because Salem is suppose to be a sandbox game.

Essentially what you are doing is making the devs do something you could accomplish instead... and yes I have a problem with that because I want the devs to add more content not make a ***** newbie safezone where 99.9% of the graduates still have no clue how to build a proper hermitage and quit the instant they lose their **** or die anyways. Your idea is flawed, your ideology behind it is flawed and you're not intelligent enough to play in the sandbox when other competitive players are also playing with the same sand.... So for the millionth time, Salem is probably not for you.

Also this whole trade thing is a red herring, players are trading all the time, it's up to you to find out how to break into the scene and make connections.

You clearly do not get it, neither does any of the fellowship.

Something like newb island would take at most 1 week to create from what i have been told now by a few others, and would last forever. Unsure how such a thing will hinder the games upcoming content for only 1 week effort, either way, or the current game in any way

Im done on this thread :) see ya soon trolling somewhere else.

I think an optional tutorial island would be a good idea. It ought to be a single player instance, though. And it should mainly serve to teach all the interface quirks, because there are quite a few. But until the interface is finalized (and there's supposed to be a big overhaul in the pipeline), it's a waste of effort to make it.

Anyway, yeah, I agree that what's really needed is smoother integration of newbies into the game's society. IMO the main problem is that neighbours are just competition, if there was some benefit to having people settle near you things would be a lot better. I've got some ideas on that actually, just chewing on them a bit before I post in I&I.

because everyone in IRC is a dev or can even program right? Nice credible resource you have there.

I wouldn't have issues with that, but we need more content at this stage. I still personally think it would just be better for the game to clearly state they should seek information from the forums or risk great loss. Then have the people who want to write guides and whatnot do their thing and present better and more updated information than any in game tutorial can offer.

Your idea has a lot of room for abuse imo. Also neighbors can trade and do a lot of stuff so I don't know what you mean by no benefit, the only problem is the game is kind of in a brief pause because many players only log on to do menial stuff and keep crops going. Once the game gets going it'll change for everyone.

Tbh a link from the pop-up windows when you first start to the "How Do I?" section would be enough at this point. Content updates are what is really needed right now.
