(I know I promised to stop annoying you, but statements like this are so very wrong I must say something :( )

I know it is huge, but if you want to talk about it you should read it all.

Tonkyhonk wrote: of text to know what tutorial island is in rs. ive seen how it was changed too.
anyways i shouldnt have mentioned "island" actually, if what you meant by "tutorial island" as almost the same as the one in rs, which i hated pretty badly with all the "must-do-or-wont-allow-you-further" instructions before starting the game itself.

Then I can suggest to make this tutorial allowing to choose player on each step to "continue" or "quit" :)

Would just be a lot easier to encourage the players to seek information on the forums and be involved in the community than to setup this fantasy safezone for newbies.

Salem is 100% community game and people after first login and during first visit in Boston should read huge message window about that.
They should also be able to read about towns/camps/groups recruiting IN GAME or at least game should redirect them to forum "The Colonial Charter".

Something like that?

joco, i do agree with the point you made with this thread, although your group was originally formed by the same kind of people, only slightly nicer. wish you didnt talk about haven case so i could perfectly agree, because the situation is not exactly the same.

The reason I brought the haven points up is because a lot of the people who were around during those times are now playing/monitoring Salem. And yes I agree Dis has a bad history but I believe that anyone can try something new and be sincere about it. I know that we were.

Also I said 200 more people not 200 total, then after the beta is opened even more will flock in. And in a game like Salem if each server had 300-400 active players it would be more than enough to fuel politics as long as the worlds stay the same size as they are now. You want something massive, Salem will never be as massive as you want, it'll also never be carebear like you want because Jorb and Loftar know better, so you should move along and find something else instead of arguing change to ad naseam in this niche game designed for players like us.

Tutorial island is a horrible idea for many reasons that have already been stated, you just wont acknowledge them because it goes against your bluebie ways.

Ok some of my older suggestions when i "first started playing" might have been "carebearish", unsure why you are still using this "carebear" excuse to put my ideas down, is this what the fellowship do ?

Consistent use of a word, which is actually meaningless to my current suggestion?

The reality is, i have seen games go from a projected 1000~ actives to 50,000 actives and are still going strong, Yea the game would survive with that many players, however, 300-400 per server ? I have played salem when it had 300+ actives on its single server, and it was STILL DEAD AS HELL.. FACT!!

Unsure how a newb island would change any current mechanic in the game, yet im sure your a total ******* who is clueless and just uses the word "carebear" to try and justify an argument about an idea "YOU" do not like.

The sincerity is a factor, but even if you are sincere, you still had a history and you had made enemies who opposed you inside the game; those enemies have reason to want vengeance in any form they can create. Regardless, we always have those roleplaying villains who would have a reason to attempt to ruin your efforts even if you have been nice and sincere during the whole lifespan of the game.

you obviously didn't play or leave you hermitage. Last world went from 300+ to lower then the numbers we see now and i had nonstop action. Same with this world. there are more people out there on this small map then you know. Stop hiding in the darkness and farming all day and you might see more then fires burning, farming and eating food all day.

Since you can run for a pretty long time with good humors + good recovery food, it is not too hard to get yourself in a hostile situation. However, trading is one of the aspects which are majorly affected by the size of active population. For those who enjoy trading, a large population is wanted.

Sure you can find someone to trade with, but that's not every aspect of trading. # "trades per day" and #"people you trade with per day" caeteris paribus get affected by how large the population of a server is. For instance, one you reach high enough population, a person can spend all his online time trading with 20+ different people without ever saying a word in public in Boston.
