US- FCC Net Neutrality is a back breaker

Postby Frakked » Sun Mar 15, 2015 7:56 am

If you live in the US; FCC just made the Internet a 'utility'... rules so heinous they could even post them for public view.

AS I understand it, Internet providers have had free rein on bandwidth, etc... 'balls to the wall' and don't look back. However, that's all about to change.

Net neutrality- some poor person only has dial up... don't raise them up... just nerf everyone else to dial up. Extreme example... but you get the idea.

I thought about giving this game another shot... I know how addictive it is; but playing a European game (where the server is situated) from the US will always be a rough 'sell'... but if government is going to step in a ***** me... and charge me more for the privilege?!

IDK... seems lose, lose...and lose some more. ***** Government.

Thoughts?

Ur an idiot.

First. I'm pretty sure the Salem servers were moved to the U.S.

Second. Net neutrality has nothing to do with bandwidth. Bandwidth is being held back because the Large Cable companies are lobbying and suing to keep a monopoly on areas they control. Wherever Google, or Local/City 1 gig connections have been set up, the local Cable company has fought it.

Net Neutrality is about those Cable/Internet Providers controlling how the internet works for users. They wanted to be able to charge certain large sites and content providers for faster access and let other sites who are too small or just starting up stay slow. This would hamper innovation and allow the Cable companies to maintain a monopoly over what and how we interact with the internet.
