Been super busy last couple weeks so havn't been active.

However on this topic, I can say firsthand Moo, long term you have a team of Mods where some are not cut out to be in the public eye.
You are exploring a fallacy if you honestly think that Mods should be able to post as they see fit and use tone's as they see fit as long as they don't use green. Your player base will not give you the distinction and it will always turn hostile.

To put it in perspective you are saying that you are using mods as an extension of you, so do that. Ask yourself these questions.

Would you ever troll someone looking for help?
Would you ever look down on new players and actively discourage them from playing?
Would you make posts pretending to exploit bugs?

I can tell you from experience some on your team do. Stax and Potjeh.

Forget the ban issues and what not your real long term issue IMO is ensuring that you foster a friendly environment where regardless of how many times a mod thinks he has seen the same post or how dumb they think the idea is, IF they want to make a post in white they are friendly and nothing but helpful. Maybe exceptions can be made in HoB.

Also less leniency for trolling or general negativity in forums that are not related to HoB should be enforced much more actively.
PPS - less leniency for inappropriate/ racist remarks.

B
Edited for clarity - Potjeh after digging through the last 2 months of his posts has been nothing but polite from the ones I found, I am striking his name from my naughty list.

*Raises eyebrow*
It's been neat to see the evolution of a game. Salem has come so far, and still has far to go. Although frustrating, I think it's been an experience worth the effort.

Were do i send the earthworms to fund such a thing ? I kinda support this from his single post alone (have never seen a post from him anywhere before) just by going by his tone of talking, if he would even welcome such a position, and kept to his idealism.

200+ posts and you've never seen one of his before? :?

Anyway, from what I've seen posted, he seems a decent enough guy.

From what I've been asked to do, this is completely false. If you think certain mods are getting out of line, file complaints with Moo about it. There have been guidelines set for what we can and can't do and say here, and is the reason sabinati stepped down from being a mod.

I don't recall any posts from any of the mods written this way. I could quite likely be wrong, but I don't think I am. (As for that third statement... well, the internets are serious business and no way anyone would falsify anything that they have or haven't done in a game....)
I am a moderator. I moderate stuff. When I do, I write in this color.

LOL MM going to call you out. Going off memory.

You should have mails in your inbox from me around august where I decided I was taking issue with Potjeh's tone towards a few posts from new players.... I believe he used white writing and was less than civil towards some guy in Idea's and suggestions.. at which point I told him to knock it off and to be less hostile towards new players.... and you warned me for warning a mod:P

This caused me to explain to you that he wasn't using green so he wasn't posting as a mod;) But this is moot I think he got my warning and has governed himself accordingly since.

Also now that I am on my pedestal, If you vote for me I won't abuse the power.. PROMISE... I am not a crook.

But about the pay scale.. is there some sort of consulting gig I could have after my term in office?? The pay scale sounds just terrible. I will take silver and Singing logs.

This project will fail.

Grind+pvp/permadeath won`t attract enough people with enough money to pay the bill for even the few people making this game. => ungrind the game, add something other mmos don`t have like trade or exploration...
New players are not treated well. => ban everyone not able to not insult other players. You may start with some mods. Seatribes attitude in this matter isn`t helping much.
Mods playing the game they are moderating are losing every credibility. Especially if they all(?) are from H&H. => random pick mods every 8 weeks.

By insulting new players and new ideas the old H&H community (with some help from the devs) has succeeded making Salem to H&H2.

Same people, same grind, same bad tone. This didn`t happen without warning, there have been enough posts in forums by me or others. Now you have the drama, you are liking so much. Have fun.

Imho the attitude put forth, from the devs and mod shows they do really want to keep this game a small neich community were drama exists with rage threads mud slinging etc.

I however as a player see the potential this game has and "could" become a huge game in the mmo world, and lead the way with a new generation of perma death games. I have 25 years gaming experience , have been a web gamer for 15 years have been a beta tester for some of the top games during there times and the top games on the current market.

This game has huge potential, yet it seems the vision i see this game in 1/2/5 years, seems somewhat hugely different from the devs / seatribes vision. However this could change in time, or i could have the totally wrong end of the stick. I am only putting forth my opinion based on the information / vibe seatribe / the dev team give.

No offence, but like the recent update "Capes *****", Yes really professional announcement of possible content, yea the "neich" community of a few hundred players would like this and find it "fun"(I could not care less), however this attitude would not be tolerated by a larger community, and paradox/seatribe need to decide if they wish to take this game into the big boys of the mmo world, and bring the lead the way new gene salem brings to the mmo world by example, the attitudes / professionalism of how they portray their game and themselves needs to change, or they will not grow as big as this game could be.

They need to make a choice.

Remain a neich little game, with a small community and earning a little slice of pie to keep them ticking.
Or
Lead the way in a whole new concept of mmo gameplay, introduce it to the gaming world when "released" in a respectable and professional way and ensure it goes down in history as a pioneer of the Permadeath / Construction / crafting game. (Would need a revamp of how forums work and how salem offers itself to the market, yet none of this would ever hinder / change the current in gameplay, just the games / devs / seatribe / paradox, need to put salem / the game across in a MUCH more professional way, and be / act alot more professional to the community.) (And well have the whole pie as they were the first, and done it right )(Many failed games failed because of ignorance of the development team, then other companies / different devs, almost mimicked the game entirely, but due to not being ignorant make a huge successful games)

Currently their attitudes point me towards the first option, however that could change. Who knows?

Do it right first time guys, and go down in gaming history is all i have to say.
