About buying tree cuttings

Postby Shadeen » Thu Feb 26, 2015 11:14 pm

As I understand it, there are two instances where the chance a cutting has to become a tree are calculated: firstly when someone cuts it from a tree, and secondly when the cutting is planted in a pot.

Would people use their highest skill character to cut the cuttings (thus increasing the chance of it growing into a tree) if they only intended to sell it in a stall? Couldn't they just make an alt with lower proficiency and just have them cut the cutting? This way they would cull the competition.

Is there any use in buying cuttings from stalls? Has anyone had any success with them?

Sorry if it's a dumb question, I'm kind of a noob.

Cheers!

Only two cuttings that are even worth buying since they are camped til' next Wednesday are the chestnut, and walnut cuts, and i do not believe all that you stated has anything to do with it as i have a pretty high leveled farming alt and my friend does not 1/8 (of my farming alt stats), and she still get's about the same amount of tree growth/death ratio as me.

As a stall owner selling walnut cuttings I can tell you that I did not use an alt to get cuttings. My goal by selling cuttings is just to have an easy subsidiary revenue and to help newbies get their own walnut cuttings at a cheap price.

People who buy 30% cuttings don't have 30% humus and pots to grow 30% trees, so people selling cuttings have nothing to worry about and thus no reason to use a crappy alt to harvest cuttings.

Why not? They might just be missing the particular kind of tree cutting. Or am I missing something? Could you get a 30% tree from a lower % cutting if you had 30% humus a pot of equal quality?

Sure, just takes a couple generations so you'd have it in a two weeks or so.

The people selling tree cuttings are being helpful. They're not trying to trick anyone.
