Grave and pay respect

So I don't really understand what did JC mean when he says 10 percent jump. Is it like jump in the total level of the proficiency or the insp to level that proficiency?
Also, if we manually raise our proficiencies then pay respect, will it overwrite our effort?

as far as I gathered, it's a python-like approach: every time you pay respect (=every time the python eats) you take a 10% jump towards the proficiencies of your ancestor (=the purity of the food the python eats).
I have no actual in-game experience though.
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

So its like (current prof)+(10% ancestor prof) or (current prof +10%*current prof until we reach ancestor's prof)?

I think it is current + 10% of (ancestor - current), so if ancestors prof is lower - you will decrease your current prof
