Force Closing

Postby gappy928 » Wed Feb 18, 2015 9:41 pm

Hi,
I'm new to Salem, I just came here from MMOHuts, and I've been experiencing a problem. Whenever I click new character it goes into the game, all the HUD is up but the rest of the screen is black and it says loading. It stayslike that for about 1 second then it closes. No error message or anything. Please help.

Wait, I've just discovered that it created a ReadMe on the desktop. This is just the top part, I can include the rest if necessary.

So your java won't grant access or something? Try lower java sercurity.
Try include the game in your exception list.
Welcome to the awesome game. You won't regret it if you make it through ¦]
You thought I quit.

I wouldn't know ANYTHING about programming, but its prolly that you need to lower your java security to low.

It's NVIDIA Compatible OpenGL file.

He is able turn on game, see character list so Java isn't blocked. He got error when loading graphic.

In the future, you should post tech issues in the Bugs & Technicalities forum. You're less likely to get random guesses to the problem.

Thanks, Magubba for the insight.

Here's the problem. Your drivers bugged. It happened when they installed, bugged up during drive maintenance (happens sometimes), or you haven't installed official nVidia drivers and have the default Windows drivers from nVidia*. The solution for all of these is to reinstall your drivers. If you have beta drivers installed, you should revert to the latest official release version to eliminate the possibility of that issue, and then report the problem to nVidia.

It is possible to have another issue. There are some problems with certain cards rendering scenes properly. You can try setting an alternate rendering mode with the console command ":gl meshmode d." See this thread on how to use console commands (about halfway down the post).
