Salem Trailer/Title Screen Music

Postby Silent_Bob » Tue Feb 17, 2015 9:35 am

So I've been messing around on my keyboard the last few weeks and have slowly been developing a few melodies I thought would fit Salem as a whole. Gathering my courage (and caffeine) I then went about the task of trying to actually create a nice title screen and/or trailer piece for Salem. It still needs JC's approval, but I thought I'd gather a few opinions/feedback/ego points from it first.

Here's a linkie (yes, you can stream or download).

Let me know what you think ^_^.

P.S. Yes, the last 30 seconds is a bit of a tribute to Tribe (cus I'm a brown noser).

Started out I dont like, feeling too apocalysptic, or too hip hop idk. 1:00 mark good for church and graveyard. 2:15 best for carebear jobs. 2:45 for darkness maybe?
I suck at music, have to say ;)
You thought I quit.

I think it mirrors the omnipresent feeling of impending doom that is Salem well, +1

Sounds like it would fit well in the last level of a Hexen wad.
As far as I'm concerned that's a 10/10 review! :D

I kind of feel like the transition from cheerful to tribe music is a bit too sudden, also i think the beggining should be more cheerful, not so dark and moody, but from the 1:00 mark to the 2:30 mark i love it :D

I also found that there was a certain lack of cheerfulness. The beginning should be more cheerful to represent the American pionneering spirit, the sense of adventure and discovery. And as the music draws out it should get darker and darker to represent the advance towards the darkness. Maybe a finish with the ring of a knell for death of course.

This is absolutely amazing. Was almost brought to tears. However, as previous people mentioned, in my opinion it should be like... Transition from happy-ish to moody and dark to represent the stages a Salem player go through. First of all, it seems like a harmless crafting MMO, but then, darkness, witches and permadeath sneak their way in...

IMO title music should start with something like this (first 2 minutes): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7rnYZyx ... 0DEC816D21
Then should change to something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Ok-5gq ... 16D21#t=17 until 1:10
Then https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Ok-5gq ... 6D21#t=126 until 3:07
Or to something like first 40 seconds of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZVcV0Z ... 0DEC816D21
