You are absolutely correct. I've been wanting to make a post about this. I have a love/hate relationship with the missing natives. I try to keep in mind that diseases decimated native poulations just prior to the colonizing of New England. Further more around the time period Salem takes place in the Pequot War had just concluded which involved the Narragansett (whose land Providence was built on, with permission of course, Roger Williams was half-way alright), the Mohegan to the North East of Rhode Island, and the Pequots to the East of Rhode Island. So our natives might just be pre-occupied. This was a period of growing rifts between colonizers and natives, so they also might be avoiding us.
