Yes, There is a random in there. Which is why I feel quite confident Salem just doesn't have a large enough data sample to get to the bottom of it.
its also worth mentioning that it is possible to get 15-20 bars in a single firing as well.

He doesn't tell me the numbers he puts in these equations, but I suggest trying a 17 ore vs 8 lime ratio. It's historically accurate.
