What is the reason for traders giving out personal hearth secrets?

Is there any Potential danger for a hermit to give out their hearth secret?

Any tips one should know/ be aware of before trading?

Why is it considered bad to have few forum posts?

Players can port to your claimstone with your hearth secret. This is why it is dangerous.

You should always make sure you are trading with a reputable party or you are bound to get ripped off.

Low forum posts could be alt accounts or scammers.

Don't give out your HS if you are bound to a claim stone that they can port to or you are in a world of hurt. Good luck to you! FWI most people make a separate character to trade in town with if they are going to be a trader.

I think it's because you can locate the person in town easier, you can see their name in Ctrl+B list and invite to party or just right click and chat. Otherwise you just see a bunch of anonymous characters in town.

I also suppose people use another account to have this trader alt, so they open 2 clients and transfer items from main to trader.

At first you should only trade with reputable party and they will ask of you items first as you are not a trusted trader. As you do more and more trade and your customers don't have any issue with you (aka you don't scam them) then you will be a trusted trader. Being a trusted trader means you can ask for money first. It's a protection for you (you won't get scammed) and for your customers (as you have a good reputation). Good luck in your trading endeavor.

Make sure the character you use to trade is not your main, and its homestead is a leanto, not a claim stone.
