Inspirationnals

Postby Argentis » Tue Feb 03, 2015 11:22 am

It saddens me when I see this in the wiki:

http://www.salem-wiki.com/mediawiki/ind ... sauce_Boat

With the mention: No reason to ever craft this item.

It's true this item and many other inspirationnals are just too expensive to make for what they do. Is there a plan to balance out the inspirationals that are out of love?

A long time ago I thought, that no sane person will craft these expensive inspirationals just to learn them. But everything is changed when you need to raise any of your skills high enough.

it's actually a decent sugar and spice inspirational. As stated before, on very high levels you want the most efficient proficiency/inspiration, and the higher cost of the inspirationals matters less and less.
Sure, not suggested for beginners to make, there are easier sugar and spice inspirationals for them - but high end they can be helpful.
For what it's worth, it seems to have been pistolshrimps personal opinion on the berrysauce boat.
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

Not just decent but the highest efficiency S&S inspirational and with 5 uses its quite good. The cost is definitely too much for new players or anyone not interested in glutting, but if you want to grind your humours up as fast as you can you will also want to jake up your S&S as fast as possible. It can also be spammed with out having to rely on RNG or market supply like with Honey-dew and Thumbnails.

I would probably make a lot more if His Majesty started buying them again

With everyone saying it's "too expensive for new players" I feel like I'm the target. I didn't say it was too expensive, I said it was too expensive for what it is. But I do agree that this item doesn't rely on market supply so I guess there is that. However in the current state I would definitely prefer to buy a honew-dew rather than make this item.

we were making the point that it is more than worth it once you start optimising inspiration used vs proficiency gained. It is actually the most efficient sugar and spice inspirational (which I hadn't noticed yet). So yes, for you (and me both), the silver/proficiency doesn't weigh against inspiration/proficiency enough. For some people, I can easily see how it does. And in the later parts, it's not about or/or but you will be using everything you can get your hands on :)

Though it will be fair if you will get glass jars back when you craft it. Then it's cost will be more comparable with the cost of Lover's Locket.

And btw I was taking this particular inspirationnal as an example. There are plenty more that I personally have never crafted.
Painted Feathers are ridiculously expensive though an ingredient for a hat. Fair enough.
