Sleep. Beds and sleep are being considered.

Keep posting suggestions, they will be read, but thicken up that skin of yours; someone upseting you isn't a very good excuse for be an ass too.

Ok, you want to send a PM to someone you familiar with. Are you sure you know his account name?

you can leave a signpost or some keys for basic communications to get him to give his forum name.
After that, forum should work just fine.
I have neither the crayons nor the time to explain it to you.

Being logged in to read the forums is not necessary, so I'm not anonymous here about 5-10% of time while I'm here. Ingame, I'm logged on 100% of my playtime, but still, ingame I have no notifications about "you had another PM on forums".
In additional to this, forced necessity to use forums is breaking player's immersion in the game.

It's not too much part of it, since there is no integration between game client and forums. Most players visit forums just to read patch notes, notifications and ask couple of questions or search answers, if they are advanced enough. I assume number of active users on forums is far below 1/10 of "active users per week".

In my experience, the problem with having forums being closely linked to a game is that a forum can develop a personality of its own that can be hostile for many to be on. Some can become ultra-conservative, ultra-liberal, ultra-tightass, ultra-trolly, ultra-whatever, and thus you're forced to convert to specific standards in order to play the game to its fullest, or at the very least fit in. Luckily, I don't think Salem's reached that point just yet :). Hopefully it never will.

Yet still, an in-game messaging system would be nice. Shoot, even being able to build a mailbox by your fort people could leave death threats messages in would be pretty useful. I often run into newbie camps on my travel and ask them to get in contact with my village's leader via signposts, but this would be a lot more convenient. It'd also be a nice way to communicate with neighboring villages/players without having to risk making contact with them or giving away forum details and such.

i'd say giving forum details is a hell of a lot safer than hiking to their base every time you want to leave a note.
Also, the forums are a pretty friendly place if you don't stray near HoB or CuaH
