I figure I'd have just "given it away" to the first thief that came by.

Good luck to whoever gets the hat box! Hope you get something nice!

Hmm maybe a way of giving them to the Wilderness guide who, gives them to players after they have picked a finial leanto location provided they have a unique IP address.

IP address in no way is a determination of unique players. One person can use 100 IP addresses and 100 people can have the same IP address even if they don't know each other.

Lol. IP is a tool, not a perfect one but there is a reason it gets used. But we get into this arguement like twice a month here, I won't try to continue it.

Lack of education != lack of common sense.

Not sure if this is sarcasm?

A persons academic education by no means gives them more common sense.

IP isn't even a tool. It's an address that is about as reliable as a PO Box.

No ****. What's sarcastic about it? I'm merely pointing out that there's a huge difference between knowing book knowledge, such as "what is an IP?" or "how to calculate the area under an arc" and having common sense, such as "getting in out of the rain" or "be nice to your neighbor".
