Oh, I'm not mad at all. Quite the contrary, actually... my job there was done.

A brief synopsis of events, if you will:

Items were stolen from me. Perpetrator was a throwaway crime alt, unworthy of my time. Items were tracked to to a claim, appearing to be some sort of vault, housing several sheds and other such containers (which I later found stored tens of thousands worth of items, which I did not touch). Said claim was severely lacking in defenses (pclaim only, 2 unprotected braziers, and most staggering of all, a half-built brick wall). I prepared to go in, locate my stolen goods, and leave swiftly. However, my lack of experience in these matters led to a failed attempt to retrieve my items. Frustrated, my only goal at this point was to inconvenience the claim owner. Hence, the bell was dropped - primarily as a scare tactic, but also just to see what kind of events would unfold for my own entertainment. Justice was served the moment the claim owner destroyed his own base before ever trying to make contact with me. Completely worth it, in my opinion.

My advice... if you're going to run around stealing from people, at least have the common sense to put up a wall first. Someone other than myself would've done way worse to you.

I won't lose any sleep over it. And yes, it was fun. To repeat myself, justice was served and it was completely worth it in my opinion. Thank you for your concern, and have a nice day.

I am sure a ranger would have solved your original problem for 8500 or less.

My dropping the bell was not an attempt to take over his base - I had no want or need for it. I didn't steal from him, or destroy anything of his. It wasn't a raid. The bell was simply a last ditch attempt to seek some form of retribution the only way I knew how after I failed to retrieve the items he stole from me. In that aspect, this was a success in my book.

My items were stolen and discovered missing about a month ago. I tracked the scents and found his base the very next day. The abysmal defenses on his base did not improve or change at all from the time I first found it, to the time I dropped the bell (a MONTH later). Early on Wednesday morning (around 6am EST) is when I made my move. I finished up around 7am. Around 3pm later that day, I logged in to check on things and found that he destroyed all of his sheds/containers. I checked the forums and found his post trying to reach out to me. I didn't respond with "I want your base" as he says. I responded with "I like your [area of land]" at 4pm. He didn't respond again until 2am later that night. At that point, I made an attempt to negotiate with him so he could take ownership of the bell himself (I didn't expect him to go for it, but it was worth a shot). He was unwilling to make a deal. I made no plans to do anything else, just sit and watch as the drama unfolded.

As a final note, I don't care about the fictional silver spent on the bell. It's of no concern to me, and I don't know why you all seem to care more than I ever would. I never expected the bell to stand for very long in the first place. How I choose to play this game is up to me, the same way it is for everyone else. This was between myself and the criminal, I didn't need to drag anyone else into it to take care of business for me. And although I never got my stolen items back, I am more than satisfied with the results.

Thank you pistolshrimp for providing me with some entertainment and a brief lesson on some raiding mechanics. Adieu.

I don't view you as a bad guy here. There are some inaccuracies in this account but that's half the fun. I have done some raiding, but no place with active defenses, much less an active town claim. I've tended to aim for leantos that also have legacy purity items indicating dis-use.

I look forward to your profiles. I haven't kept in touch with the forums before I started to play the game again in November so I hope I'll learn some interesting stuff on people.
